Fiscal authorities in Spain are suggesting that the ongoing investigation into alleged tax irregularities involving Shakira be put on hold, as per recent reports.

The renowned Colombian singer has been under scrutiny for purportedly evading 6.7 million euros ($7.2 million) in taxes on her 2018 earnings through an offshore entity. Shakira firmly denies any wrongdoing.

Initially raising the allegations, state prosecutors now assert that there isn’t enough evidence to support the suspicion of fiscal misconduct.

The decision on whether to proceed with the investigation lies with the presiding judge, who will determine whether to pursue the case further or dismiss it entirely.

Separately, Shakira reached an agreement with prosecutors last November, acknowledging her failure to pay 14.5 million euros (approximately $15.6 million) in taxes to the Spanish government for the years 2012 to 2014.

Following her separation from former soccer player Gerard Pique, Shakira currently resides in Miami, having left Spain.
